[ARCHIVED] Carteret County to dedicate Charters of Freedom display at Historic Courthouse

COF 04272024

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (April 17, 2024) – A ceremony to dedicate the new Charters of Freedom installation on the grounds of the Carteret County Courthouse will be held Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 302 Courthouse Square in Beaufort.

The ceremony commemorates the permanent display of America’s founding documents – the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Bill of Rights – etched onto bronze plates and secured within a brick structure. They were built thanks to Foundation Forward, Inc., a North Carolina-based educational non-profit.

The program will feature patriotic music, an invocation, presentation of colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and a closing cannon volley. Additionally, a time capsule will be placed within the display to commemorate the occasion.

The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony and to come out to enjoy the educational experience of reading these documents that secure the freedom and rights of the citizens of the United States.

For more information about Charters of Freedom, or to make donations, visit chartersoffreedom.com or contact them at 828-522-1400.
