Carteret County Public Library celebrates National Library Week, April 7 – 13

News Releases Posted on April 04, 2024

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (April 4, 2024) – The Carteret County Public Library (CCPL) joins libraries nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, from April 7 to 13, 2024. This year’s theme, “Ready, Set, Library!,” highlights the library as a foundation for exploration and connection in an increasingly digital world.

The CCPL offers a vibrant hub for the community, providing book clubs, storytimes, crafting classes, lectures, and more. Residents can also access resources like Wi-Fi hotspots, STEAM kits, public computers with printing, and friendly staff available to assist with research and reading recommendations.

“National Library Week is a time to recognize the valuable role libraries play in our communities,” said Dorothy Howell, CCPL director. “We invite everyone to discover all the CCPL has to offer and experience the joy of learning, creating, and connecting."

Beyond entertainment and enrichment, libraries are essential for economic development. The CCPL provides resources and support for jobseekers, entrepreneurs, and students through services like computer tutoring, quiet study areas, and extensive research databases.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April. This National Library Week, the public can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting their library in person or online, following them on social media and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek.
