News Releases Posted on October 10, 2024

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (October 10, 2024) – The Carteret County Board of Elections is reminding residents that the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming November 5 General Election is October 11, 2024. Eligible citizens who miss the deadline can still register and vote on the same day during Early Voting, which runs from October 17 through November 2 at four locations across the county.

Citizens can verify their voter registration status by using the voter search tool, where they can enter their first and last name.

To be eligible to register, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old by Election Day, and have lived in Carteret County for at least 30 days before November 5. Additionally, individuals must not be serving a felony sentence, including probation or parole.

Voters can register online through the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) if they are existing customers, or by mailing a completed NC Voter Registration application to the Board of Elections. Mail-in applications can also be used to update name, address, or party affiliation.

The in-person Early Voting period begins October 17 and ends on November 2. During Early Voting, individuals who are not yet registered can use same-day registration and vote immediately after registering. Voters utilizing same-day registration must present an acceptable form of photo ID, such as a driver’s license.

The Carteret County Board of Elections office, located at 1702 Live Oak Street in Beaufort, is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
