Carteret County officials coordinating debris pickup for areas left damaged by January winter storm

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (February 6, 2024) – Following the January winter storm that brought tornado activity and high winds to Carteret County, county officials are coordinating debris pickups in the community of Atlantic. The pickup will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 7 and will continue until all debris is cleared.

Residents are asked to place storm-related debris on the side of the road in such a way that it does not block the roadway. The debris should be accessible for pickup, as public works crews can only collect debris reachable from the road with their equipment. Crews are not allowed to enter private property.

For more information regarding debris material placement guidelines, residents are encouraged to call Carteret County Public Works at 252-648-7878.
