CARTERET COUNTY, NC – Effective July 1, 2021, Michele
Querry will serve as the interim director for Crystal Coast
Economic Development after the departure of the current director,
Don Kirkman.
After three-and-a-half-years of overseeing Carteret County’s
economic development, Kirkman announced his retirement from
the position earlier this year. His last official day as economic
development director will be next Wednesday.
Querry has served under the leadership of Director Kirkman for
over two years and is credited with creating collaborative
partnerships with a network of local and out-of-state business
stakeholders, as well as the lead in receiving several development
grants for the county. She was directly involved with assisting the County of Carteret and its cities and
communities in economic development and job creation efforts by attracting, supporting, and retaining
business in our region.
“With Don’s retirement, we are grateful for Michele’s leadership in assuming the interim director position,” said
Tommy Burns, County Manager. “Crystal Coast Economic Development remains in great hands to continue its
current projects while also seeking new opportunities to attract and grow business in the County. I have full
confidence that the department will continue to excel under her leadership.”
As the Interim Director, Querry will assume all duties, responsibilities, and authority of the Director of Crystal
Coast Economic Development. She will be paid an annual salary of $79,426.87.
