Carteret County announces temporary parking lot closure at courthouse

20231016 Courthouse Parking Temp Closure

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (October 16, 2023) – Carteret County will temporarily close the county courthouse parking lot at the intersection of Turner Street and Cedar Street in downtown Beaufort. The closure will begin on Tuesday, October 17 to accommodate repaving, parking realignment and other improvements designed to make it safer and more accessible for visitors.

As an alternative, visitors to the courthouse are encouraged to utilize nearby public parking areas and to plan for potential delays or adjustments to their schedules while the parking lot improvements are in progress.

“While we understand this may cause some inconvenience for visitors in the coming weeks, upon completion of the project, accessing and navigating the parking lot will be considerably easier,” said Assistant County Manager Gene Foxworth.

Project coordinators expect demolition and reconstruction of the existing parking lot to be complete by December.
