CARTERET COUNTY, NC (April 4, 2024) – In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Carteret County Department of Social Services (DSS), Carteret Children’s Advocacy Center, and Carteret County Guardian ad Litem Program will plant a pinwheel garden on the grounds of the Carteret County Courthouse in Beaufort on Monday, April 8th at 9:30 am.
The pinwheel serves as the national symbol of child abuse prevention, representing the hope, health, and happiness of all children. Pinwheel gardens are planted across the country during April to raise awareness for this important cause.
Following the planting ceremony, a community walk will be held. To show support, attendees are encouraged to wear blue. Community members and businesses unable to attend can still participate by planting pinwheels at their homes or workplaces and sharing photos on social media.
The pinwheel garden will be on display throughout the month of April, concluding on April 30th, 2024.
