[ARCHIVED] Early Voting for Carteret County Municipal Elections Begins Oct. 16

Municipal Elections

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (October 14, 2025) – Early voting for the 2025 municipal elections in Carteret County will run from Thursday, Oct. 16, through Saturday, Nov. 1.

Only voters who reside within a municipality are eligible to participate in these elections. Eligible voters can cast their ballots at any of three early voting sites across the county:

  • Carteret County Board of Elections office, 1702 Live Oak St., Suite 200, Beaufort
  • Fort Benjamin Park, 100 McQueen Ave., Newport
  • Western Park, 275 Old Highway 58, Cedar Point

Early voting will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the final day, Saturday, Nov. 1, polling sites will operate from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Early voting allows citizens to conveniently cast their absentee ballots in person, providing an alternative to traditional Election Day voting. This process generally features shorter wait times compared to the day of the election.

Voters are required to show an acceptable photo ID when checking in at their early voting site or on Election Day. Registered voters who do not have an acceptable ID can obtain a free photo ID from the Carteret County Board of Elections office.

Residents who are not registered in Carteret County may register to vote during early voting at any of the three locations. To use same-day registration, voters must complete a voter registration application and provide proof of residence in the county.

The municipal elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Carteret County Board of Elections office maintains regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
