[ARCHIVED] Carteret County Seeks Public Input on Draft Comprehensive Transportation Plan

2025 CTP Meetings

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (April 28, 2025) — Carteret County, in partnership with local municipalities, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), and the Down East Rural Planning Organization (DERPO), invites residents to review and provide feedback on the draft Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) during a series of public meetings in May.

The CTP is a long-range, multimodal transportation plan assessing existing and future needs for roadways, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transit services, and rail infrastructure. The plan identifies network deficiencies, proposes solutions, and establishes a shared vision for transportation improvements across Carteret County.

Four drop-in-style meetings will be held at locations throughout the county, allowing attendees to view draft projects, ask questions, and submit comments. No formal presentations will be made, ensuring flexible participation.

Meeting Details:

  • Wednesday, May 7, 2025 (5:30–7:30 PM)
    Beaufort Library
1702 Live Oak Street, Suite 100, Beaufort
  • Thursday, May 8, 2025 (5:30–7:30 PM)
    Western Park Community Center
    275 Old NC-58, Cedar Point
  • Wednesday, May 14, 2025 (5:30–7:30 PM)
    Fort Benjamin Recreation Center
    100 McQueen Avenue, Newport
  • Thursday, May 15, 2025 (5:30–7:30 PM)
    Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall
100 Municipal Court, Pine Knoll Shores

Public input will help shape the final plan, which will guide transportation investments for years to come. The current CTP was adopted in 2014.

For project maps, survey results, and additional details, visit the official CTP https://tinyurl.com/yj7bxtjz. Comments may also be submitted online to Amanda Killian, Transportation Engineer with NCDOT, at abkillian@ncdot.gov.
