Recording and Real Estate

The Register of Deeds Office records, maintains, and safeguards public records and documents, especially those relating to real estate. Real estate documents include real estate conveyances, deeds of trust and mortgages, powers of attorney, assumed names, separation agreements, and maps and plats. Please note that we are a recording office and not legal authorities and therefore cannot advise in any legal capacity. We are unable to supply legal forms or answer questions regarding the legal consequences of instruments filed. We advise you to consult an attorney if you have any legal questions.

DISCLAIMER: Book 301 thru Book 514 are on aperture cards. On the deed of trust, if canceled, it will be stamped on the card with the canceled information. If you need a copy of this information please call our office.

Physical Records

All real estate records are public records and are available for inspection between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Register of Deeds Office is located in the County Administrative Building, 302 Courthouse Square, Beaufort, NC 28516.
