- Tax Administration Office – This is the mailing address to contact the Tax Administration Office.
- Mailing Address – The mailing address on file with the Tax Administration Office.
- Bar Code – This bar code is for internal use only.
- Bill Date – This is the date the tax bill was mailed.
- Due Date – Per NC General Statutes Property Taxes are due and payable September 1, 2024, and delinquent if not paid in full by January 6th, 2025. Postmarks affixed by the US Postal Service will be accepted.
- Bill # - This bill number is for internal use only.
- Parcel ID # - This field will be blank as it is used for Real Property bills only.
- Account # - This account # is for internal use only.
- Abstract # - This identifies your personal property in our records. Use this Abstract # to look up the property when making payments on our website or over the phone. This number is only used for personal property.
- Tax Year – This year references the current year of taxes.
- Real Estate Value – This value will be blank as Real Property is billed separately.
- Deferred Value – This field will be blank as it is used for Real Property bills only.
- Exempt Value – Portion of value that is excluded from taxes if the property qualifies for an Exemption or Exclusion. (Disabled Veteran Exclusion, Senior Citizen Exclusion, etc.)
- Personal Value – This is the value of the personal property associated with this abstract #. This is the value before any exemptions or exclusions are applied.
- Net Taxable Value – The difference between the current value and exemptions.
- Acres/Lots – This field will be blank as it is used for Real Property bills only.
- Real Property Description – This field will be blank as it is used for Real Property bills only.
- Property Location – This field contains the location of the personal property associated with this abstract.
- January 1st Owner – This field includes the owner of the personal property associated with this abstract as of Jan. 1, 2024.
- Tax Levied – This field lists the taxing districts and fees associated with each property based on the property’s address. All bills will display (01) County. Other taxes levied could include: Fire, Rescue, Storm Water, and Annual Availability Fees (Solid Waste). Towns that contract their billing and collection with the County will also see their municipal taxes displayed in this field.
- Rate – Tax Rate set by the taxing district annually that is applied to the Net Taxable Value.
- Tax Amount – Tax amount due for each tax levied.
- Message Area – This section provides important information about the bill and a QR code that directs you to our Tax Bill Pay Option website
- Late List Penalty – A late list penalty has been applied to those who did not meet the statutory deadline of January 31, 2024, or a business that did not file an extension until April 15, 2024. The penalty is 10% as required by the statutes. If you feel this has been applied incorrectly, you should complete an appeal form and provide evidence that you did submit before the deadline.
- Total Taxes Due – This is the total amount due for the bill.

- Parcel ID # - This field will be blank as it is used for Real Property bills only.

- Total Taxes Due – This is the total amount due for the bill.
- Delinquent Date – Property taxes are delinquent if not paid in full by January 6th, 2025. 2% interest assessed on January 7th, 2025 plus an additional 3/4 of 1% on the first of each month thereafter until paid.
- Amount Enclosed – Total amount of money that is included or attached to the bill. This typically includes the payment of the taxes owed, but it might also include any additional fees or penalties that are due.
- Bar Code – This bar code is for internal use only.
- Address Change – If you wish to update your current mailing address, please use this area to provide your new mailing address.
- Remittance Information – Utilize the envelope enclosed to mail your payment made out to County of Carteret.
