Carteret County Board of Commissioners welcomes new members, elects leadership

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (December 3, 2024) – Three new commissioners were sworn in during Monday’s meeting of the Carteret County Board of Commissioners. Chimer Clark, Keith Moore, and Marianne Waldrop each took the oath of office to begin their first four-year terms on the board. The Honorable Bob Cherry, Superior Court Judge, administered the oath of office to all three Commissioners.

The board also elected its leadership for the coming year. Commissioner Chris Chadwick was chosen to serve as Chair, while Commissioner Mark Mansfield will continue in his role as Vice-Chair. Both will serve until December 2025.

The Carteret County Board of Commissioners is the legislative and governing body of the county, consisting of seven members elected to staggered four-year terms. The board usually meets regularly on the third Monday of each month at the Carteret County Historic Courthouse in Beaufort. A meeting schedule, agendas, minutes and previous meeting videos can be viewed online. Meetings can also be watched live on carteretcountync.gov and the County’s YouTube channel.
