The Carteret County Sheriff's Office is the principal law enforcement agency of Carteret County, providing service to over 70,000 people within 500 square miles. The sheriff's office is responsible for preventing and investigating crime, operating the county detention center and performing the court-related functions of a traditional sheriff's office.
The men and women of the Carteret County Sheriff's Office work 24 hours a day 365 days a year to provide competent, effective public safety services to all county residents and visitors through efficient, professional and ethical law enforcement and crime prevention practices and with the highest regard for human dignity. We strive to seek innovative ways to provide excellent service and promote public safety in an era of limited government resources.
