WIC is a federally funded, supplemental food program for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5. WIC stands for women, infants, and children. WIC provides nutritious foods, information on healthy eating, breastfeeding support, and promotion and referrals to health care.
Eligibility
WIC is available to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age five.
Participation
To participate a person must:
- Be a resident of North Carolina
- Meet certain income requirements
- A person receiving Medicaid, Work First Family Assistance, or Food Stamps automatically meets income requirements
- See a WIC nutritionist at no cost to participate
