The Fireman's relief fund (FRF) benefit (NCGS 58-84-1 through 58-84-55) was passed into Legislation in 1907. Its purpose was to financially assist firefighters that may have been injured while volunteering their service to the community. This legislation was passed to ensure that no firefighter would become destitute. One-half of one percent of the fire & lightning portion of property insurance within a rated/certified fire district funds this program.
