Employee Recognition

Carteret County values the hard work and dedication of every employee and has developed a variety of employee recognition programs: Employee of the Month, Service Awards, and planned events.

Purpose

The purpose of the Carteret County Employee Recognition Programs is to provide a process for nominating and selecting employees who exemplify our core values and have made significant contributions to the mission of Carteret County.

Eligibility

Eligible employees for Employee of the Month are part-time or full-time employees who have been employed with Carteret County for at least one year. Employees are eligible to receive annual awards no more than one (1) time during a calendar year.

Nominations: Nominations will be submitted to Human Resources on the corresponding nomination form no later than 4:30 p.m. on the last business day of the month. Nominations do not have to be within an employee's own department. Nominations can be made at any level up to the County Manager level including full-time, part-time, temporary, and volunteers.

Records Review: Personnel Records for each nominee will be reviewed by Human Resources staff. Nominees with disciplinary actions either pending or during nominating year or with an overall rating of "does not meet expectations" on the most recent performance evaluation shall not be considered for the award.

Selection: Nominations will be reviewed and a selection made by the Employee Recognition Committee. Once the employee is selected, the employee's department, with assistance from the County PIO, will complete a short biography to be used for the awards presentation.

Award: Employee of the Month will receive a certificate, balloons, cupcakes, and $25 gift certificate to their favorite restaurant. Certificates will be presented at a Board of County Commissioner Meeting.
